Congratulations to all our wrestlers from K-12 on a very successful season. We hope to see you during the Spring and Summer at Open Mats and with some of our outstanding clinicians coming in.
Let me start by thanking the coaches, the wrestlers, and the parents for a successful season despite further pandemic related challenges. I would also like to thank Broncs Wrestling Club for allowing us to salvage our season by providing us a place to train prior to our return to the high school.
We had so many volunteers step up and make this season possible and I want to especially thank those that do not have a child in the program but care enough about the sport to dedicate their time and energy.
Wrestling is a very hard sport. A sport where you will experience plenty of failure and many setbacks before you often taste success. We use words like perseverance, commitment, determination, pride, and passion to describe these athletes that have the courage to toe the line and put themselves out there.
When you wrestle its one of the purest sports in the world often referred too as mano a mano (Latin for man to man). It can be a lonely journey at times when you question yourself and second guess your efforts and abilities. The only people that really understand how hard it is are fellow wrestlers, whether they are young or old.
If you can survive a wrestling season there probably isn’t much in life that you won’t be able to handle. The life skills that this demanding sport can teach you are endless so long as you’re willing to put in the required work to learn them.
This past weekend our wrestlers competed in the season ending tournament, previously dubbed the best of the best. With so many first-year wrestlers this year we focused heavily on the fundamentals; a good stance, wrist control and finding positions of strength. I can unequivocally say that every wrestler finished the season a better wrestler than they were when they started and that is how we measure success.
Its hard see that in a sport that keeps track of wins and losses and every single point that is scored during a match. No matter what the situation was or the outcome of the score our wrestlers always demonstrated maximum effort and unwillingness to quit. As a coach that’s all I can really ask for and I couldn’t be prouder of this group.
Below is the list of who competed this weekend and how they finished in terms of wins and losses for the day. Before you look at these columns just know they are all winners in my book no matter what the numbers say.

Congratulations boys! I look forward to building on these efforts next season. Keep working hard, dreaming big and remember that the only limits in your life will be the ones that you accept.
Parents if you have additional photos please send them to me I will add them to the slide show.
RWA was created by wrestlers and for wrestlers. Wrestling teaches so many life skills like discipline, perseverance, and mental toughness that we feel obligated to give back to the sport that has given us so much.
RWA has a proud history of being one of the oldest wrestling programs in Mercer County New Jersey and Robbinsville has been our home since our inception.
RWA is the only youth sport in Robbinsville that is fully integrated from our youth program, to our middle school, and then finally to our high school. This connectivity provides our wrestlers and our coaches an environment that fosters familiarity and consistency.
What an amazing weekend for Robbinsville wrestlers as RWA returned to form running the county wrestling tournaments for both the High School and Middle School teams. These tournaments take a tremendous amount of effort, coordination, and expertise to make sure they go well and that everyone has the experience they deserve.
As an entirely volunteer organization we need to personally thank everyone involved in making this weekend possible. We want to thank the amazing Coaches, Athletic Director, Trainers, faculty, administration, Robbinsville Police, the high school janitorial staff, the high school’s technology expert, our alumni, and most importantly the parents and students that volunteered their time.
RWA has been introducing athletes to wrestling and teaching them the sport for almost forty years. In the early days we were one of the only youth organizations teaching wrestling in Mercer County, so our practices always had wrestlers from neighboring towns training alongside our Robbinsville athletes.
The county tournaments always present a great opportunity to see just how far the teachings from RWA have spread and this year was no different. With the High School Team winning the county Tournament for the first time since 2010, Robbinsville Wrestling Association was able to watch the fruit of their labor take the podium. The finals featured 10 finalist that are all RWA alumni, 8 Champions, and another 4 finishing in 3rd place.
I share these statistics as a way to thank each and every person that has volunteered their time and shared their passion for the sport with these athletes because without you these results just don’t happen. Our wrestlers have certainly put the work in to maximize their outcomes but your support and your commitment to them are a vital part of that journey. A journey for most of them that begins when they are 5 or 6 years old.
Speaking of our younger wrestlers, the Middle School team produced another strong effort by finishing in third place as a team. RWA had 10 finalist, 6 Champions, and 5 third place finishers.
And if all of that wasn’t enough competition for the weekend, our youngest wrestlers crossed the Delaware River yesterday morning to participate in a quad meet featuring Princeton, Ewing, and Montgomery.
In closing, I want to circle back to our most special group of volunteers which consists of former parents and alumni. These people don’t have any wrestlers participating in any of programs because they have aged out yet year after year, they come back to perform our most vital functions like running our scoring tables and being part of our head table (which essentially runs the tournament.) RWA thanks you profusely for your efforts and support.
Ryan "Big Bad" Wolfe will be holding his Spring Training wrestling workouts on Monday nights in the wrestling room at Rider University.
